Small-firm trade shows at home

An Ahwatukee Foothills woman trying to help home-based businesses get more exposure is starting monthly trade shows - in her home.

Trade shows and expos are usually held only a few times a year at large venues and can be expensive, Carol Blonder said.

"This is something exactly like that, but on a smaller basis and lower cost but probably just as effective," Blonder said. "It will be more intimate."She invites direct sellers and other home-based or small businesses to set up booths for only $25 for the first trade show, which will be from 6 to 10 p.m. Wednesday at her home, 14653 S. 25th St.

Vendors must bring their tables.

The public is invited at no charge.

Blonder plans a different theme for each month, with this month's theme being health and wellness. February will be romance and March probably a home show theme, she said.

Blonder has worked in sales for about 35 years, in wholesale and retail. She also has recruited members for the Ahwatukee Foothills Chamber of Commerce.
