1. Talk With Each Other

While there s no reason your staff shouldn t bond and enjoy themselves at the trade show, they should be sure their sole focus is on attendees. If someone steps up to your booth and your hosts are so engrossed in conversation that they fail to notice, that person will more than likely walk away with a lasting bad impression. Ensure your staff conveys a sense of interest and remains approachable.

Be sure your staff brushes after every meal or at least pops a mint. Offensive breath can scare a person away no matter how fantastic a presentation is. Gum should be avoided as a way to freshen breath since chewing and talking at the same time can come across as rude. On a related note, make sure anyone positioned at your booth isn t wearing too much perfume, cologne or lotion.


4. Focus Solely on Making a Sale

Not everyone who stops by your booth does so because they want to buy whatever product or service you re selling, and it s essential that your staff realizes this. That doesn t mean your staff shouldn t try to sell your company s products or services, just that they should recognize when doing so is and isn t appropriate. Have your staff ask attendees what brought them to your booth and go from there. Sometimes simply giving a person the right information and letting them digest it on their own time and terms is enough to turn them into a loyal customer.
